An ultra-luxury electric sedan is waiting in the wings, ready to take the stage in the very near future, and change the way we think about electric vehicles. The Cadillac Celestiq promises to be what the world has been waiting for, a green EV Cadillac for sale with all the style and comfort of the Cadillac brand.
Currently in development and expected to be commercially available in 2023, the Cadillac Celestiq EV will be massive. It will be a four-door, four-passenger lounge on wheels, with an airy, spacious feel and plenty of room to stretch out. It has a hatchback instead of a truck, and a striking design that will make it stand out from any other all-electric vehicle ever introduced.
The new standard for electric vehicles?
GM's goal is to become the new standard in electric vehicles, and they may well have achieved it. The EV technology for the Cadillac Celestiq writes a new chapter in automotive history. It will be built on General Motor's BEV3 electric vehicle technology. Further, the batteries are hidden under a completely flat floor, which can accommodate up to three electric motors.
This flagship will be a Cadillac for sale with a flat floor design. The motor on either end results in a near 50/50 weight distribution, and a low center of gravity. This gives drivers a sporty, responsive performance that they've come to expect from Cadillac vehicles.
Excellent Range and Performance
Since the Cadillac Celestiq will be the brand's flagship model, it will undoubtedly be equipped with Cadillac's top of the line battery and electric motor. If the all-electric concept Cadillac LYRIQ is any indication, the Celestiq will offer a range of 300 miles on a full charge, giving it the longest possible range.
GM promises 800-volt charging, which means these powerful electric motors will have fast charging at home, and be quickly topped off at charging stations while on the road. Specifically, it will most likely offer Level 2 AC charge rates up to 19 kW at home, and DC charge rates of as high as 150 kW. This means you can roam to your heart's content in this powerful electric vehicle.
A Hand-Built Cadillac Interior
There is an incredible attention to detail in the interior because every one will be hand-built. The interior will get special attention, taking advantage of the vehicle's size to give driver and passengers plenty of interior space.
Designers have included some gorgeous features in the concept design, such as an acrylic display case with floating flower petals in the dashboard. Each Celestiq will be a unique work of art because each interior will be hand-built by Cadillac craftsmen.
The interior will also boast an all-glass panoramic roof, literally the entire roof of the Cadillac Celestiq. This gives the cabin an unparalleled, open-air feeling that adds to the spaciousness of the interior, and of course gives passengers incredible views.
The Cadillac Celestiq Will Boast a Striking Exterior
It's guaranteed the upcoming Cadillac Celestiq will turn heads. Based on a concept model located at the GM Complex in Warren, Michigan, the Celestiq will be distinctly Cadillac, with unique twists. Like the concept LYRIQ, there is no formal grill on the Celestiq. Instead, there's a modernistic-looking row of backlit lines, with the iconic Cadillac crest.
Both the headlights and taillights are vertical, a classic Cadillac design feature in recent years. The EV has a wide stance, thanks to the large size of the massive battery pack under the floor, giving it a distinctive, muscular look.
Renderings of the Cadillac Celestiq show a large C-pillar and concave details in the door panels. The choice of a hatchback instead of a truck allows the vehicle's lines to flow smoothly to the rear, and also affords a lot more storage room than in traditional all-electric vehicles.
Additional Cutting-Edge Technology
Some of Cadillac's most recent technology will certainly be included, and it's likely that we will also get a few innovative surprises from the new flagship.
Super Cruise
Cadillac's Super Cruise technology is the world's first truly hands-free cruise-control system. This driver-assistance feature works with Cadillac Connected Services and Adaptive Cruise Control. It uses real-time positioning, sensor, cameras, and map data to detect every nuance of every curve, making your longer drives as comfortable as possible. Super Cruise will control acceleration and braking for a completely hands-free experience.
Curved LED Screen
Most likely, the Cadillac Celestiq will incorporate the all-LED display of the LYRIQ concept. The curved, 33 inch marvel can display over a billion colors, and its systems intuitively react to you as you drive. This results in a car with easy to use controls that feels natural to drive, with an integrated touch screen that keeps the most popular features at your fingertips.
An Immersive Sound System
Audiophiles can take advantage of the Celestiq's 300-mile range and immerse themselves in concert-quality sound. The Cadillac-exclusive AKG Studio is an in-vehicle sound system like no other, so you can enjoy your favorite playlists with no distortion. on the 19-speaker sound-optimized system featured in the LYRIQ that's a safe bet to be included among the Celestiq's many innovative features.
Augmented Reality Head-up Display
It is predicted that the Celetiq will use Cadillac's latest augmented reality head-up display. This system consists of two planes. The near plane gives you information about speed, direction, and other driving details. The far plane shows the driver transparent alerts for navigation and other important events.
