General Motors continues to impress in its production of Cadillacs. Pictures of their upcoming second-generation 2024 Cadillac CT6 have surfaced on the internet, and everything about them shows that it will be one of the most sought-after luxury sedans in 2023. Here's your first look at the upcoming 2024 Cadillac CT6.
Exterior designs and Features
The few pictures leaked by China's Ministry of Industry and Technology show that the new Cadillac CT6 model has a newer design that matches its predecessor, the 2020 CT6 version. It has the same 122.4-inch wheelbase, although it's slightly shorter overall. Rather than the traditional notchback design, this version has adopted a curved roof with a fastback design, giving it a sleeker roofline towards its back and a more rounded surfacing.
Its back shows a wide Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) spanning almost the entire length of the vehicle's rear window. The taillights adopt a more standard Cadillac version, but it has slimmer and taller upside-down-looking L-shaped taillights with a steeper windscreen. There are also dual trapezoidal tailpipes at the back, proudly stating that it will be a gas-driven sedan.
Its front end features an imposing grille flanked by slim LED headlights and vertically-mounted lighting units on the bumper's faux. These headlights are made of two layers- with a horizontally oriented set at the top that serves as the turn signals. There are also two sets of vertically-oriented lights, one serving as Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), while the headlights are inside these DRLs. This setup is close to the features of the new Cadillac Lyriq.
Engine Capacity
There are chances that the upcoming 2024 Cadillac CT6 will come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, updated to burn less gasoline and make it less polluting. There are reports that GM will produce versions with 3.0- liter V6 gasoline engines, although there are no official reports. However, considering that GM will be dropping the Omega Platform used to make this car's predecessors in favor of VSS-R, we should expect a punchier engine capacity with the latest technology, safety features, comfort level, and an updated semi-autonomous driving system.
The SAIC-GM joint venture will manufacture its 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. It is expected to produce up to 233 horsepower and meet a top speed of 230 km/hr. We will know more about its engine after the official release.
Interior Features
The few 2024 Cadillac CT6 leaked pictures have shown an Escalade-style digital cockpit on a new design dashboard. This includes all the instrumental clusters and a dual touchscreen setup similar to the one used in newer Cadillac versions. The touchscreen features an infotainment touchscreen in the middle and a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
Still, the dashboard's center console will have an integrated rotary dial that controls the center screen. It is also expected to feature more tech features like the latest Super Cruise-autonomous system and trims of premium upholstery.
Release Information
With GM dropping the previous Cadillac version from the US in 2020, it seems that GM will exclusively sell this new version in China. Its release date is also unknown, but it may premier this year, 2023, when it will be launched as the 2024 model.
US Cadillac enthusiasts may miss out on this luxury sedan, but there are several new EVs like the 2024 Celesiq and versions of Escalade and Lyriq scheduled for their market.
